Helping students build confidence, voice, and real-world writing skills
In this course, I meet students exactly where they are—many returning to school after years away or learning English as an additional language. We work together to demystify writing by breaking it down into manageable steps, from understanding readings to brainstorming and organizing ideas, all the way through revising essays. I emphasize personal expression, practical strategies, and a supportive classroom culture. Students leave this course not only more confident in their writing, but with tools they can apply in jobs, future classes, and everyday communication.

This course provides the groundwork for college-level reading and writing. I help students strengthen their skills in interpreting texts, structuring ideas, and writing with clarity and purpose. Together, we work on building academic habits, overcoming writing anxieties, and engaging with real-world issues in ways that matter to students. Emphasizing growth over perfection, I aim to foster a mindset that empowers learners to take ownership of their education and express themselves confidently.

In this technical communication course, I guide engineering and technology students in writing for real-world audiences—from internal teams to regulatory bodies and public stakeholders. Our focus includes workplace genres such as memos, technical reports, email briefs, and proposal writing. I help students refine their voice for clarity and precision, and build presentation and visual design skills to communicate complex information effectively. Assignments are grounded in ethical decision-making and real scenarios drawn from industry contexts.

This first-year writing course is designed for students who self-place into a supportive, hands-on environment. Using the P-CHAT framework, students explored rhetorical genre studies, multimodal composition, and research strategies while reflecting on language, identity, and culture in writing. The course centers student agency, cultural awareness, and meaningful inquiry.

I emphasized genre awareness, research-driven communication, and cultural responsiveness—drawing from Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) to guide students in ethical decision-making and adaptable writing strategies. Through multimodal projects and real-world case studies, students developed the tools needed to write effectively in diverse professional environments.
